Are You into Presidential History and Trains?

Read this.....This year, a Springfield-Illinois based group is organizing a re-enactment of Lincoln's Funeral in honor of its 150 year anniversary.  A replica of Lincoln's Funeral Train will be riding the rail lines in late April and passing through Painesville, Ohio on its route.

Originally, Abraham Lincoln stopped at the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Station in Painesville on his way for an inaugural address and his funeral train came back through this stop.  The funeral train will pass through on April 28 and may make a stop at this historic train station which opened in 1893.  This station is now slated for restoration by the Western Reserve Railroad Association and turn it into a museum.  City Officials are working to preserve this Station and establish a historic district around Railroad Street.
